US Foundry CatalogCast Iron Grates, Frames & Covers
A reference hub for the full US Foundry catalog — gray and ductile iron drainage grates, curb inlets, manhole frames and covers, tree grates, and trench grates. Every family is built to municipal and DOT load ratings, from AASHTO M306 proof load to H-20 / HS-25 highway classes.

Florida's Cast Iron Drainage Foundry
US Foundry (U.S. Foundry & Manufacturing Corp.) is a Florida-based manufacturer of municipal and construction castings, headquartered in the Medley/Miami area. The company produces gray and ductile iron products for stormwater, sewer, water, and roadway infrastructure — the heavy-duty cast iron that DOT, municipal, and site-construction projects specify by catalog number.
That makes US Foundry a fundamentally different buy than the engineered polymer and plastic drainage systems sold by NDS, ACO, and Josam. Foundries compete on load rating, Buy America / domestic melt, and conformance to standard municipal and DOT catalogs — not on modular channel systems. US Foundry is the strongest cast iron foundry in the Southeast/Florida market, alongside Neenah Foundry as the national reference standard.
US Foundry Catalog Shortcuts
In 2026, US Foundry literature moved into the Neenah Foundry / Charlotte Pipe Infrastructure resource library. These are the current catalog viewers linked from that official library; legacy US Foundry PDF addresses are no longer active.

AASHTO, H-20 & HS-20 Load Classes Explained
Municipal and DOT castings are specified by proof load and highway loading class. Here is how the standards US Foundry products carry map to real traffic loads.
The standard proof-load specification for cast iron construction castings — a 40,000 lb proof load applied to frames, grates, and covers. Most US Foundry catalog items are produced to M306; newer products move to AASHTO M360.
The standard highway design loading municipalities require for traffic-bearing castings — 16,000 lb per wheel (32,000 lb axle). H-20 and HS-20 share the same wheel load; HS-20 adds a third truck axle for longer-span structures.
A 25% increase over HS-20 (20,000 lb per wheel), specified for interstate, heavy-truck, and high-traffic crossings where the standard highway load is not sufficient.
Detectable, heel-proof grate patterns and detectable warning plates that meet ADA requirements for openings in pedestrian travel paths (½ in. maximum in the direction of travel).
Gray Iron vs. Ductile Iron
Gray Iron (ASTM A48)
The standard material for most covers, frames, grates, and boxes. Excellent castability and compressive strength at municipal price points; the default for the bulk of the catalog.
Ductile Iron (ASTM A536)
Used where higher tensile strength and ductility are required — heavy-duty grates, bolt-down and security assemblies, and airport-rated castings. Carries higher loads at lower weight than gray iron.
Related Product Categories & Applications
US Foundry castings sit inside our broader product categories and show up across the municipal, roadway, and site-construction projects we drain. Use the links below to compare cast iron against other systems or to see how the grates and frames specify for a given job.
By product category
US Foundry's frames & grates, curb inlets, and trench grates map directly to these buyer-facing categories, where cast iron is compared against polymer-concrete and plastic alternatives.
- Cast iron drainage grates— frames, grates & covers across load classes
- Catch basins & inlets— pair USF frame-and-grate assemblies with basins
- Trench drains— cast iron trench grates for linear drainage
- Valves & valve boxes— water-works valve boxes & access covers
Where US Foundry castings are used
Heavy-duty iron castings are specified wherever traffic loads, municipal inlets, and water infrastructure meet the surface. These project pages cover the most common roadway, parking, and water-works uses.
- Highways & roadways— curb inlets & H-20/HS-25 grates
- Parking lots— traffic-rated frames, grates & manhole covers
- Water works— valve boxes & distribution castings
- Loading docks— heavy-duty trench grates for forklift & truck traffic
Specifying for a pedestrian streetscape instead? US Foundry's decorative tree grates and ADA patterns also suit courtyards and plazas. You can also review load-rating guidance before locking in a casting.
US Foundry Catalog FAQ
Where is US Foundry located?
US Foundry (U.S. Foundry & Manufacturing Corp.) is based in Florida, in the Medley/Miami area. It is a Florida company — not Oklahoma. (The separate Oklahoma entity "United States Foundries Inc." at usfoundries.com is a different company.) US Foundry is the strongest cast iron drainage foundry in the Southeast.
What products are in the US Foundry catalog?
The US Foundry catalog covers curb inlets, frames & grates, frames & covers, manhole covers, manhole grates, paving products, tree grates, trench grates, valve boxes, utility castings, water works products, and specialty/custom castings — all in gray or ductile iron.
Are US Foundry grates AASHTO and H-20 rated?
Yes. Most US Foundry construction castings are produced to AASHTO M306 (a 40,000 lb proof load), with newer products moving to AASHTO M360. Traffic-bearing grates and covers meet the H-20 / HS-20 highway loading (16,000 lb per wheel) that municipalities require, with HS-25 available for heavier crossings.
What is the difference between gray iron and ductile iron US Foundry castings?
Gray iron (ASTM A48) is the standard for most covers, frames, grates, and boxes. Ductile iron (ASTM A536) is used where higher strength and ductility are required — heavy-duty grates, bolt-down and security applications, and airport-rated castings — carrying higher loads at lower weight.
Are US Foundry grates ADA compliant?
US Foundry offers ADA-compliant grate patterns with detectable, heel-proof openings (½ in. maximum in the direction of travel) plus detectable warning plates for pedestrian areas, alongside bolt-down, locking, and tamper-resistant security options.
