NDS SquareCatch Basins

NDS Square Catch Basins come in four sizes: 9-inch, 12-inch, 18-inch, and 24-inch. The 9" and 12" basins are made from polypropylene, while the larger 18" and 24" basins are constructed from heavy-duty HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) for increased strength and durability in demanding applications.

Load ratings depend on the installation method. With soil, sand, or gravel backfill, basins support 60 psi (pedestrian traffic). When set in 4" of concrete, they handle 175 psi (light vehicular). With 6" concrete encasement, they support 325 psi (semi-trucks). Maximum rating of 575 psi (heavy-duty) is achieved with 8" concrete encasement.

The 2-opening basins have pre-cut knockouts on opposite sides, ideal for straight-line pipe runs or single inlet/outlet configurations. The 4-opening basins have knockouts on all four sides, providing flexibility for complex drainage layouts where pipes need to connect from multiple directions or where future expansion may be needed.

NDS offers several grate styles including standard flat grates in green or black, atrium grates with raised dome design to prevent leaf clogging, and heavy-duty grates for vehicular traffic areas. Grate material options include plastic for residential use and cast iron or ductile iron for commercial/heavy-duty applications.

Yes, NDS risers are designed to stack. Each riser adds approximately 6" of height to the basin. You can stack multiple risers to achieve the desired depth for your installation. Risers are available for all basin sizes (9", 12", 18") and simply nest onto the basin or previous riser.

Outlet sizes vary by basin size. The 9" basin accepts 3" and 4" pipe. The 12" basin accepts 3", 4", and 6" pipe. The 18" basin accepts 4", 6", and 8" pipe. The 24" basin accepts 6", 8", 10", and 12" pipe. Universal adapters are available for custom outlet configurations.

NDS offers several debris management solutions: atrium grates with raised dome design shed leaves and debris, debris filters/baskets that sit inside the basin to catch sediment before it enters pipes, and leaf guards that fit over standard grates. Regular maintenance and cleaning is also recommended.

Yes, with proper installation. For driveway installations, the basin must be set in concrete—4" minimum for passenger vehicles, 6" for heavier vehicles. Use appropriate heavy-duty grates rated for vehicular traffic. The concrete encasement provides the structural support needed to handle vehicle loads.
